Coffee on the patio

Here's a picture of Austin and I having coffee on the patio. :-)

I am trying to get better at not just taking the pictures but then posting them on some sort of internet site so everyone else can see her growing like a weed.

Changing table

Look who loves her changing table so much she decided to take a nap on it while I was cleaning up.

Austin and Dad playing

Well this is about as much as you can play with a 7 week old. She just keeps on getting bigger with more and more personality. Here's Joe and her "playing" on Sunday morning.

My little terrorist...

Ahhh my little terrorist, Austin that is.

She makes demands that I don't agree with but give into anyway. Like her new favorite past time...to nurse half heartedly for up to an hour at a time. Of course when I pull her away she frantically tosses her head around looking like a crack baby who is starving to death. Geee Crystal how on earth do you get anything done with a crack baby to take care of...the answer is I don't. Yeppers you are looking at the first ever Crystal Pacifer, I should hope that if I am ever sold in stores I am at least expensive. Sorry the sarcasim gets laid on pretty thick when I have been up since 4am.

I have been going back into the gym and pratically killing myself each time. Of course my scale is in cahoots with Austin in the terrorisim field because according to it I am gaining weight...sweet. I suppose at some point I will just top out this stupid digital scale and it will just read ERROR. That should just about make my day when that happens...insert death by spork here.

And all I want is more coffee but that would super charge the terrorist so I am skipping it. So for those of you that don't have a crack baby terrorist please have a cup of coffee with a whiskey back for me. :-)

Another weekend gone and another Monday here..

We had another wonderful weekend, Austin had her first "babysitter" I have to put it in quotes because my Mom insists that Grandmas don't count for babysitting so we could go out and play golf. I of course shot like I hadn't played in months but that's to be expected. It was nice to be out playing though and I only checked on her once. :-) We went out to Sushi when we got back to the Springs, I don't care much for it but because Joe likes it so much we go out and I eat chicken or beef teriyaki. And then on Sunday we had a birthday party to go to. Of course baby girl did wonderfully being passed around and loved on.

Here's pictures of her at Sushi, we sat in the tatami tables (sushi tables in the ground) so she could sit right next to us.

More Austin

Well time flies when you're having fun...or when you are feeding a baby ever 2 hours. I can't even tell you how many times I think to myself there's no way she is hungry she just ate, and then I think about it and sure enough at least 2 hours have passed. Days broken down by 2 hours fly by quick! Of course scattered with pages from work, wow I didn't miss that stupid thing waking me up every night.

I seem to be in trouble at work because I came back after 4 weeks rather than 6 or 12 like most people do. So now I need some doctor's note saying that I was ok to come back or they can't approve my paychecks...awesome! And truly how would my doctor know if I was ok to come back to work, it's not like she was checking on me. I suppose it is these kinds of rules that make women feel as though they were in fact sick when they had babies, why would I have not been able to come back to work the day afterwards...after I was tired then but am still tired now and I imagine will remain that way for the next 18 years. Maybe I should take the next decade off just to catch up on rest.

I have my 6 week appointment today so if all goes well I will be at the gym tomorrow! Yahoo! Of course I have this misconception in my mind that once I get clearance to go back to the gym the remaining baby weight along with the additional 50 pounds I have packed on since dating Joe will simply melt off. After all it is the last 2 months of not being able to step foot in a facility that will allow me to work out that would cause this fat to sit on me. I am choosing to stay this delusional until I am proven wrong if for no other reason than I REALLY like working out and I REALLY hate being fat. :-)

Yesteday while taking care of baby girl two of my little brothers walked in the door. Turns out Ryan, who used to live in Texas moved in with Tadd yesterday. Sweet! I love having more family around, they came over for dinner last night and immediately we started picking on Ryan who is now the youngest brother in the group (until Dane comes around at which point we will focus our efforts on him). I think younger siblings need to be picked on to some degree, I think it is payback for the times that us older siblings have to take care of them or worry about them. Perhaps we had a different childhood but everytime I pick on one of them I think about the time I bailed them out of trouble or the time I stood next to them in the hospital or picked up the tab because they couldn't. Yeppers I have earned the right to pick on them, only jokingly of course.

Oh and here are some pictures of the ever changing Austin. First of her Dad being able to feed her. Then of the gorgeous day in Colorado and her hanging out with us on the patio. The last one I was trying to catch her smiling at me (which she does all the time) and she made a face so I laughed at her and she made this sad face which of course only made me laugh more.

You gotta love having kids...

So here's my top things I have noticed this week about being a Mom.

1. I get a giant black star for worst Mom of the week by allowing my child to smell like a foot. Not sure what happened, probably due to the milk she can't seem to keep in her mouth, but sure enough she smelt like a foot. Which Joe noticed and said "hey why does our daughter stink?" in front of our guests. I turned red with embarrassment and she got a bath. Guess who is going to be getting more baths until she can learn to keep the milk in her mouth? :-)
2. When you have kids you think about truly morbid things like "what if I die tomorrow?" or worse yet "what if everyone in my family dies tomorrow?". So I found myself writing out a will yesterday, I don't own much and I still think I am worth more alive then dead but I didn't want the state of Colorado to get my DVD's.
3. I have discovered that if my child screams her head off for a while she sleeps amazingly when she calms down, black star number 2...allowing my sweet child to scream while people look on like I am pinching her.
4. Small accomplishments like showering and vacuuming are truly triumphant.
5. Babies like to be up during the night and sleep during the day, Mom's like to sleep during the night and be up during the day....hmmm. Seems like this would pose a problem.
6. Oh yeah and to top it all off I still can't call myself a "Mom" to people out loud. Perhaps this is because I can't think of a more honorable job or because I am still not sure if I am ready to be a Mom (well that ship has sailed) but yeah it's still too hard to say.

Wow and it's only Wednesday!
