Progress & Change

November 5 - Today I am thankful for progress and change, we sat down with the kids after Tadd and Carri had left for the evening and watched the movie Hidden Figures.  The movie takes place in 1961, which for all intents and purposes isn't that long ago.  I watched as Austin's face twisted into uncomfortable expressions...asking, why can't she just use the restroom in her building?  What does the term "colored" mean?  Why would she have to wear high heals if she also has to run all the time?  I have always believed in the saying "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - this coupled with my belief that we still have progress to be made - makes a movie like this a necessary watch for my kiddos.
